About the Event

Join us on a powerful journey to create your very own Medicine Drum!

This is a full immersion Woman's Weekend Workshop, where we will connect into the Energy that flows through all things.  Honouring the Tree, the Animal and the Self, we will weave these 3 energies together to create a powerful instrument that can assist us and others along the journey of self discovery.

This workshop offer you the opportunity to not only make a beautiful and sacred instrument, it also offers you the opportuniy to connect in with other beautiful sisters and discover some of the many ways in which the Drum was used to assist the healing journey of self discovery and to access wisdom and knowledge from the unseen realms.

We will come together on Friday afternoon to join is sacred circle, here we will begin our journey as we honour the tree and animal spirit which have contributed to the creation of this sacred instrument.  It is here our journey begins as we prepare our hoops, our skins and ourselves for the process of joining these 3 energies.

On Saturday we will begin the process of joining the tree and animal in the sacred dance as we weave our blessings and intentions into our drums.  We will explore totem energies that may present themselves for your drum and together in ceremony create a Sacred Instrument that will journey with you on your Earth Walk.  We bring all the elements and energies together as we create our Sacred Instrument.

On Sunday we have the opportunity to awaken our drums through a traditional sacred ceremony, and discover the many ways in which we can work with our drums. We will discover how to journey to different worlds, discovering our power animals, use our drums as a sound healing tool and experience a nourishing sound healing session.

Your facilitator:

Tamaryn is a Earthy Woman, who is passionate about sharing the powerful medicine of drums.  She is an artist and circle facilitator and encourages connection to Earth and Spirit.

Tamaryn has been making drums for over 13 years, she has a true passion for medicine drums and working within the Shamanic realm.  She is also an artist and musician and loves bringing natural elements together to create works of art.  She has studied Transpersonal Art therapy and Kinesiology and continues to learn and discover all the wisdom that Mama Earth has so offer.

We are all people of the Earth and Stars, and it is in reconnecting to the natural world that we are brought back into our true selves and in alighnment with our true purpose.  Drumming is a powerful tool that can facilitate that process.  It can assist us as we discover our own individual journey's that we must take on this Earth Walk.

About your Drum:

Everyone is called to make a different drum, they are all unique and no two are the same.  I offer a few different options and with these options the price varies slightly.

You will have a choice of the following:  16" Willow hoop, 16" Ash Hoop, 16" Oak Hoop (+$50) or a 14x18" egg shaped hoop (+$70).

You will also have the choice of Kangaroo, Deer or Goat Hide.

The hoop of your drum is a solid piece of wood that has been steam bent.  This offers a continuous flow of energy around your drum and eliminates the possibility of delamination that can happen over time with plywood hoops.

Tamaryn uses a unique hand hold bead in the middle of the weaving on the back of the drum, which allows for a very comfortable and strong handle.  There are endless options for the weaving on the back of the drum, Tamaryn will guide you through the process of choosing the best one for you.

Please visit our "Drum Totem Energies" page under "On Offer" for more info on the different energies.

If you do feel drawn to a different size or wood option, please email me and we can work out the best drum for you.

Making your own drum is not a quick process, in order to create a Sacred Instrument we are required as the drum maker to give of our energy and time just as the tree and animal have given of themselves.  Saturday can be a big day of drum making.  We have a maximum of 10 participants to ensure that everyone receives the support they need in creating their Medicine Drum.  In some cases groups may be larger if a second facilitator is available.

We do ask participants to not leave during the retreat, as this can distrupt the energy of the circle.  If for whtever reason you need to, please discuss with Tamaryn, prior to the event.

We do hold drum journeys as part of the workshop.  If you have never journeyed before, don't worry we will guide you through it.

An important part of the process is the Awakening Ceremony.  This is done to awaken and breath life into your drum, as well as offer the drum as a tool of awakening and healing.  This ensures your drum is ready for the purpose for which is was created.

At the end of the workshop, you will leave with a beautiful drum and beater ready to embark on your journey together.
